Let’s be honest: those old-school bathroom “lamp heaters” are kind of a joke. They usually fail because they just aren’t built for the actual reality of a wet room. Most of them use basic halogen tubes with barely any sealing. The second a bit of steam hits the terminals? Boom. Short circuit or rust. That’s why we’re seeing everyone move toward IP65-rated infrared heaters. They actually handle the humidity without just giving up and burning out.
The secret is in the seal
When you see “IP65,” don’t get bogged down in the technical jargon. Just know it means the unit is tight against dust and can handle water jets. In a bathroom, it’s not just about the occasional splash. It’s about that thick, heavy steam that tries to crawl into every electrical gap. We use silicone gaskets and reinforced cable glands to basically lock the moisture out. And the heat? It’s different. Most heaters try to warm up the air, which takes forever. These infrared units use shortwave radiation. It hits your skin and the floor directly. You feel the warmth**instantly**. No more shivering while you wait for the room to catch up.
A couple of things to keep in mind
Now, there is a trade-off. These high-wattage tubes put out a lot of intense, localized heat. While the casing protects the guts of the machine, the outside can get pretty hot. You’ve got to be smart about where you put them so nobody accidentally burns themselves. We usually suggest keeping them at least 2.2 meters above the floor.
Built to actually last
We designed these to be easy drop-in replacements for those old, clunky heating grids. We also got rid of those flimsy connectors. Instead, we use industrial-grade terminals that won’t oxidize, even if the air is salty or super humid. Here’s another thing: standard halogen lamps die quickly because soap residue or hard water spots gunk up the quartz tube. It’s annoying. Our IP65 designs use a protective shield or a coated emitter to keep the tube clean. It keeps the heat steady for way longer. Plus, it means you spend less time climbing a ladder to swap out dead bulbs and more time actually running your facility.
