How it actually works
Here’s the thing: standard heaters just warm the air. But in a steamy bathroom, the air isn’t the real problem—it’s the wet tiles, the grout, and the sealant. That’s where the mold likes to hang out. Our lamps use short-wave infrared radiation. Instead of heating the room, the waves go straight into those wet surfaces. It basically shakes the water molecules until they evaporate. By drying the walls and corners directly, you’re taking away the one thing mold needs to survive: a damp, stagnant place to grow. It’s like a hidden dehumidifier that doesn’t need a bulky tank.
The tricky part
Building these isn’t exactly a walk in the park. Steam is brutal on electronics. We use sealed quartz envelopes and corrosion-resistant parts so the whole thing doesn’t short out the moment you take a hot shower. One heads-up, though. If you go for the high-wattage lamps, they dry things out incredibly fast, but they can make the fixture housing get pretty hot. Just make sure your bathroom vent is actually working so the air doesn’t feel like a sauna while your walls are drying.
Making it work for you
You don’t need to leave these things on all day. That would be a waste of power. Just set them on a timer to run for a bit after you’re done showering. Aim them at the “trouble spots”—the corners of the shower or the folds of the curtain where water just sits there. It turns your bathroom from a damp breeding ground into a crisp, clean space.
