
Keeping Spa Areas Warm Without Killing Your Hardware
If you’ve ever managed a changing room or a spa, you know the struggle. It’s a brutal place for electronics. Between the constant steam, the random splashes, and that heavy, damp air, standard heaters just don’t stand a chance. They burn out. Fast. That’s why we built our IP65 infrared elements. The goal was simple: keep the moisture away from the electrical contacts so the thing actually lasts.
Why it feels different
You know that instant warmth you feel the second you step under a heat lamp? That’s short-wave infrared at work. Most heaters try to warm up the air, which is a losing battle in a drafty changing room. These lamps are different. They send out radiation that hits you (and the bench, and the walls) directly. It’s almost immediate. Inside, there’s a tungsten filament tucked into a high-purity quartz tube. We use quartz because it doesn’t soak up the heat; it lets the energy fly straight through the glass and onto the person standing below.
The “Waterproof” Part
When we say IP65, we’re talking about a seal that keeps dust out and handles water jets without flinching. We make this happen with tight end-caps and gaskets around the connectors. If you’re swapping these into an old setup,**do me a favor and double-check your voltage and wattage.**If they don’t match, you’re either going to get a lukewarm breeze or a blown fuse. We usually stick with R7s or Sk15 connectors. They fit snugly, which is key. If the fit is loose, you get arcing at the terminals, and that’s a recipe for a headache.
A few things to watch out for
These tubes put out a massive amount of heat in a tiny space. It feels like a five-star luxury experience for the guest, but it puts a lot of stress on the mounting brackets. Here is a pro tip:keep your reflectors clean. If dust or water spots build up on the reflector, they absorb that energy instead of bouncing it. That makes the housing overheat, and over time, your frame might actually start to warp. Also, try to give them their own dedicated circuit. It prevents those annoying voltage drops that eat away at the filament’s life. Keep it clean, keep it powered, and they’ll keep your guests warm for a long time.
