Most people are still using &lt;a href=&#34;https://goldisgood.com&#34;&gt;those&lt;/a&gt; old-school resistive heaters. The problem is they try to heat the &lt;em&gt;entire&lt;/em&gt; oven chamber just to get the glass to the right temperature. It&amp;rsquo;s like heating your whole house just to warm up a slice of pizza.&#xA;We do things differently. We use short-wave infrared (IR) lamps. Instead of warming the air, the energy goes straight into the glass. It cuts down the soak time and, more importantly, keeps more money in your pocket at the end of the year.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;Finding the &amp;ldquo;Sweet Spot&amp;rdquo; for Distance&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;Where you place those lamps matters. A lot.&#xA;If you mount them too close, you&amp;rsquo;re asking for trouble. You get these nasty &amp;ldquo;hot spots&amp;rdquo; that can shock the glass and cause it to crack. Not great. But if you push them too far back, you&amp;rsquo;re just leaking energy into the room. Your lamps end up running at 100% just to keep up, which &lt;a href=&#34;https://o-yate.com&#34;&gt;defeats&lt;/a&gt; the whole purpose.&#xA;Usually, we figure out the distance based on how fast you need that glass to heat up. A tighter gap gets you more power per square inch and speeds things up, but you&amp;rsquo;ll need a solid PID controller to make sure you don&amp;rsquo;t overshoot your target temperature.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;The Hardware Side of Things&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;Our high-wattage quartz lamps are beasts. They have the muscle to handle thick glass, but there&amp;rsquo;s a trade-off. They get incredibly hot.&#xA;You can&amp;rsquo;t just plug these into a basic circuit and hope for the best. When they first kick on, there&amp;rsquo;s a massive spike in current that can fry things. That&amp;rsquo;s why we suggest using dedicated SCR controllers. They modulate the power and keep the filaments from burning out when you&amp;rsquo;re cycling them quickly. It&amp;rsquo;s a small detail that saves you from a huge headache later.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;Working Smarter, Not Harder&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;The best part about switching to IR is that you can finally stop treating your oven like one giant heat zone.&#xA;You can target specific sections of the glass. Since you aren&amp;rsquo;t trying to keep a massive amount of metal and air hot, your throughput goes up and your carbon footprint goes down.&#xA;Just one tip: make sure your cooling fans are up to the task. If heat builds up around the lamp housings, they won&amp;rsquo;t last nearly as long. Keep the lamps cool, and they&amp;rsquo;ll take care of the glass.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
